Why choose Surveily?

Surveily is an EU-native, edge-first alternative to Buddywise for industrial sites in Europe and the UK.Both are European vendors that spot missing PPE, vehicle-pedestrian conflicts and restricted-zone entries on cameras a plant already has. Surveily adds no hardware, so detection runs on a GPU server the customer buys and owns, and that model has run in kiln conditions for two years. Buddywise ships its own Buddybox Hybrid edge device. Its channel is built on a camera-manufacturer partnership.

80%
fewer vehicle incidents - lime & cement multi-site, 24 months in continuous production
95%
PPE compliance at six months - refinery

more near-misses surfaced - chemical and consumer-goods plant, Poland, 30 cameras

Three reasons EU plants choose Surveily over Buddywise

Both platforms pick up the same hazards, and both vendors are European. So the choice sits elsewhere. It's about what arrives on site, whether on-premises is the version people actually run, and what a governance reviewer sees.

Software only, run on any camera, on your server.

Surveily is a software, running on the CCTV infrastructure already in place. It can even run on cameras nobody installed with detection in mind and on sites dealing with a lot of dust and vapor pollution. Detection runs on a GPU server you own or you can buy from Surveily at around 600 EUR per camera as a one-time reference.

Buddywise's Buddybox Hybrid is an edge device build around a camera-hardware partnership. That works well if your estate is already standardized on that specific brand. If your CCTV is a twenty-year mix of whatever each plant bought, Surveily and the software-only approach is the shorter path.

Site safety AI run on-premises only

With Surveily on-premises isn't an upgrade tier, it's the standard deployment. Detection sits on servers inside your own network, non-event, raw video is never stored, and the system can be cut off from the internet, with updates delivered on a schedule your IT agrees on. The footage is labelled by an European team and with full compliance to EU privacy laws.

Nobody is identified, full anonymization in ensured

Faces, heads or whole bodies are blurred before anything is stored, displayed or used to keep the models accurate. No worker can be identified or scored based on the footage. Surveily's main focus is safety and privacy. Hazards only raise an alert and your team decides whether to stop the line or take other action. Surveily never acts on a worker or machine by itself. You stay the Data Controller and Surveily is the Processor, which will make it easy if your local DPO raises questions.

What our customers say

European sites in heavy industry, chemicals and building materials, all running Surveily on the cameras they already had. No new hardware went in.

Surveily AI solutions have significantly supported our safety efforts - particularly in preventing near-miss incidents involving forklifts, maintaining order on vehicle routes and pedestrian pathways, and eliminating the use of mobile phones in restricted areas. The system provides us with real-time insight into on-site activities and enables quick response to potential hazards. It’s a tangible improvement in both operational visibility and our safety culture, which we highly value.
Piotr ŁukszaPiotr ŁukszaEHS Manager, Saint-Gobain Innovative Materials
Employee safety is our top priority - especially in the demanding environment of chemical manufacturing. Implementing Surveily’s systems significantly enhanced our oversight in critical areas. Their cutting-edge technology enables faster threat detection and real-time data analysis, resulting in a measurable improvement in workplace safety. We value Surveily’s professionalism and are proud to partner with them in building a work environment that meets the highest industry standards.
Radosław StudzińskiRadosław StudzińskiHSE Coordinator, Reckitt Benckiser
We gained significantly better visibility and control over our expansive industrial site. Their innovative monitoring technology allowed us to effectively track vehicle movement and reduce hazardous driver behavior - particularly regarding the use of personal protective equipment and adherence to speed limits. As a result, we’ve enhanced safety for everyone working on-site. We firmly believe that partnering with Surveily is an investment that delivers tangible safety benefits.

Questions buyers ask when comparing Surveily and Buddywise

The questions that come up before a demo, usually from IT, the DPO and finance, answered the way we'd answer them on a call.

What is the best Buddywise alternative for industrial sites in Europe?

Surveily picks up the same risks as Buddywise, from missing PPE and vehicle-pedestrian interactions to restricted zones, smoke and fire, and it installs as software on the cameras a site already owns.

Both are European and both label their own footage in-house, so the comparison comes down to what gets installed, and no Surveily device goes in. Buddywise puts its Buddybox Hybrid edge device on site.

Can we move from Buddywise to Surveily without changing our cameras?

Yes. The software runs on roughly 95% of existing digital camera infrastructure, whichever manufacturer supplied it.

What changes is the compute. Detection moves onto a GPU server you specify and own, so there's no vendor appliance in the rack and no camera ecosystem to sit inside.

Where is the video processed, and what leaves the site?

Detection runs on servers inside your own network, and raw video not attached to an event is never written to disk in any deployment model. On-premises, nothing leaves the site. In the hybrid models the only things crossing the boundary are anonymised event metadata and clips with faces already blurred.

The on-premises deployment can be fully air-gapped, with updates delivered on a schedule you agree. The material that keeps your models accurate, selected frames and short clips tied to your team's feedback, is anonymised before it moves, handled under terms your InfoSec agrees, and labelled by our own team inside the EU.

Does Surveily use facial recognition or any biometrics?

No, in any configuration and on any market. That means no facial recognition, no biometric identification, no emotion recognition, no worker scoring. De-identification is applied by default before anything is stored or displayed. A live feed naturally contains identifiable people before masking happens, which is why the masking sits in the architecture rather than in a policy document.

How does Surveily work with a works council, or with our DPO on a UK site?

Surveily detects behaviours and conditions rather than identities, and never takes automated action against a worker, so a human stays in the loop for every response. You remain the Data Controller. Surveily is the Processor.

In the Netherlands and Germany that runs through the works council, the elected worker representatives who approve a system like this. The UK has no co-determination right, so sign-off usually sits with your DPO and, on a unionised site, employee representatives. The DPIA describes a system that keeps video inside your own network and retains no raw footage.

Does Surveily replace our EHS platform?

No, it feeds it. Those platforms record what somebody reports, so the data only exists once a person files something. Surveily adds continuous risk data from what the cameras already see, on top of Intelex, Cority, Enablon, EcoOnline and VelocityEHS.
